Ahhh the joy's of an Emergency Room the day after Christmas

First and foremost, YES I am ok, Alive and Kicking. :)

I had been having some serious abdomen pain which started Christmas Eve night and continued thru Christmas day. I was barley able to eat the wonderful Christmas Dinner my mom cooked for all of us. I was supposed to help, but the pain was all I could focus on. Sorry Mom.

I have come to have a HIGH tolerance for pain through out the years and have been able to put a smile on my face and make it though it, but I knew something was wrong Christmas Night when I couldn't eat and had a hard time walking without pain. I was so thankful that the medication I took before going to bed helped me sleep thru the night.

Saturday morning was a different story. When I woke up I was barely able to walk down the stairs. My mom then suggested that I go to the ER as it could be a number of things including my Appendix. So away we went.

The ER was FULL of people, I had never seen it so busy. Luckily we got back into a room quickly and the doctors ran their full spectrum of tests. After 5 hours in the ER the doctor came to tell me that it wasn't my appendix (phewwww) but instead a cyst on my ovary had ruptured (OUCH). Now I have had cysts rupture before but NEVER had they been this painful.

I am just happy it wasn't something worse :)

Peace on Earth and Goodwill Towards Doctors

Twas the day after Christmas and all through the Natic house, Lin is updating the Blog, while Kara is at Northside in the Emergency Room... More on that in a bit...

It's been a little while since our last post. So with that I think I'll update on a few things that has been happening starting with the most recent...

Baby Preston: P Diddy is home and doing well with Mom and Dad. In fact he's sleeping on the other side of the room. One of his favorite hobbies. Rumor has it that Titi Kara was holding him at one point and Mom and Dad snuck off to grab a nap. Smart move Mom and Dad... Smart Move.

Lin's Car Accident: The day before Preston was born I finally got my car back. My dealings with Safeco Insurance have been less than pleasurable. This has taught me more about negotiations and patience than I ever thought I'd learn. Right now I am fighting over the diminished value of my car, however the process is going a whole lot slower than I thought. I'm on the verge of working with a service that can help me get the money I deserve.

Having a Doctor on Call 24-7: Kara lately has been having issues with her blood pressure. A few of us keep teasing her that she is an old lady at 29. Unfortunately the Meds she has been taking has been causing other issues with her body. This morning her Mom brought her to the emergency room due to issues with her Appendix. I'm currently waiting back at Alisha and Neil's to hear back about her status.

Outside of health issues, our first Christmas together was excellent in seeing both of our families and friends and both of us making trips to the Jewelry store. Kara bought me a brand new Fossil Watch and I got her started with a Pandora Bracelet with a few charms.

I just got a text from Kara talking about how they are poking and wiring her currently. I'll let her update everything soon.

I hope that Santa was good to you all, and your Holiday season has been all you hoped for a more. If I don't get to update before hand, Have a blessed New Year!

Preston Michael Natic

Whew it was a LOOOOOONNNNNNGGGGGG day yesterday.

But it was well worth it in the end.
As I stated in the last blog we arrived at Northside Wednesday morning around 7am. They had given Alisha the Pitocin at 6am and expected her to deliver by mid afternoon. Little did they realize that Preston was not giving up the fight that easily.

By 6pm, yes I said that right 6pm she was still only dilated 1cm. The doctor said he was going to go to his office and work on some paper work and would return to check her again around 9pm. A bunch of Alisha's friends came to visit between those 3 hours and did a great job of keeping us busy.

Around 9pm the nurse came to check on Alisha found that she was now dilated 9cm and 80%effaced but Preston had not made his way any further down the birthing canal. The Nurse attempted to put her into different positions in attempt to coax him down. The first was the Frog position and the second we called the Dog Peeing position.

Around 10pm the doctor came in and decided since Preston hadn't moved and that Alisha's Pelvic was too narrow, it was time to prep for a C-Section. We packed up her room and they would move her to another room after birth, and headed out to the waiting room to "wait" it out. With about 40lbs of luggage and 8 plus people we took up a whole section of the waiting are.

We got the news that Preston was born at 11:05pm. He was 6lb 6oz and 20 inches long, mommy and baby did well during surgery and even daddy was able to stomach taking pictures over the sheet as Preston was coming out of mommy stomach.

Around 130am we were able to go back to
Alisha's Post Partum room. Andrea and
I decorated her hospital door and the inside of the room.

We waited another hour and half to two hours before they brought Preston to see us. He was so precious and sooooo tiny. All of my bothers and sisters have been over 8lbs when born so I don't remember ever holding a baby this small. Alisha actually let everyone hold him and then we all said good bye and headed for home and bed.

I probably got to bed around 4am but it was sooooo worth it!

Congrats Alisha and Neil! Preston is PERFECT!

Hospital Update "Preston Come on Out of There"

So Alisha got the call Tuesday night telling her to be at North Side Perimeter Hospital between 7:30pm and 8pm.

Lin and I headed to Cheesecake Factory at Perimeter Mall to let them get checked in and situated. Once we were done we headed to the hospital for a quick visit. We found out that they did not plan on giving Alisha the Pitocin to start her Labor until the next morning at 6am.

At that point it was pretty late so I took my mom to my hotel and got her checked into her room. I then went home and finished up some last minute things for the next day then headed to bed.

I woke up at 545am and got ready to pick mom up at the hospital at 7am.
We hit Dunkin Donuts then came to the hospital.

It is now 1pm and still not much going on. The doctor broke her water around around 11am but not much has gone on since then... I have a feeling it is going to be a VERY long day.
I will keep everyone updated.
Or you can check Neil and Alisha's Blog here: http://www.neilnatic.com/

My Birthday Weekend

This past weekend was my birthday weekend and I decided to start it off at my Local Bar where everyone knows my name "MidTown Tavern." I hadn't been there in a long time and since Lin went without me last weekend I was anxious to get there and see everyone.

I had to pick up my dad that night at the Airport around 7pm and take him up to Exit 11 to meet up with Anne and the Kids. I left my house early to stop and get gas, but he arrived early and I headed strait to the airport without getting gas. Once Dad made it thru the busy airport and out to the car I told him we needed to stop for gas. He looked at my gas gage and said we would be able to make it to Exit 11 and then I could get gas up there. As we passed Exit 9 my gas light came one. Once I dropped him off at Wild Wings I headed to the BP station up the road. I was so afraid I was going to have to push my car at this point. As I got to the pump I realized I had left my wallet sitting next to my Laptop all the way back in the city. Thank goodness my dad was right down the street and had some cash to save my night.

Dana, Bobby, Angie and myself made it to the Tavern right after Lin arrived from his work Christmas Party at 300 Atlanta. (300 is an upscale bowling alley on 285 by Peachtree Industrial.) Check it out here http://www.3hundred.com/atlanta.html

I had a blast at the Tavern that night. Everyone had a good time singing Karaoke and so many people decided to join us. I wasn't the only person celebrating my birthday, Friday happened to be Dana Munson Birthday and she came by after her birthday dinner and birthday Margarita's. Thank you also to Maloof, Emma, Brent and Michelle for driving ITP to help me celebrate.

Around Midnight Lin decided to "Embarrass" me by getting on stage and dedicating a song to me. For some reason he chose to sing "You lost that loving feeling". Thanks babe but I haven't. LOL but it was cute and the whole bar got up and sung it with him as they pushed me closer and closer to the stage. Once he was done I turned around and had a beautiful cake and a few presents waiting for me. Thanks Lambie for remembering the WONDERFUL Publix cake Bobby got me last year for my birthday and arranging it again this year.

Saturday I got up and headed to the Nail Dynasty for Pedicures and Girl talk with Angie, Dana and Abby . We had a blast, it was so nice to be pampered for the day. If you are ever in town and need your nails done you really need to call Lisa and set up an appointment. Dana and I have been going to her for over 2 years now and we have never been disappointed. (Thanks Lisa for the $10 gift certificate)

After Pedicures and Girl talk I went back home to find Lin had bought me a GORGEOUS bouquet of roses for my birthday and a funny but oh so true card.

We then got dressed and headed up to visit his mother in Marietta. We had hoped she would be able to join us for dinner that evening but she wasn't feeling well so we just went and spent a little time with her.

We had dinner reservations at Maggiano's at 8pm at Perimeter. We met Alisha, Neil and my mother as Maggiano's is our favorite Italian place and we had so much to celebrate, My Birthday, Neil's Birthday, a Brand New Car for the Natic's and Alisha having Preston soon. As usual the food was amazing the service was good but the management couldn't seem to figure out how to use the $10 coupon Neil brought with him.

After dinner we headed over to CheeseCake Factory for desert. MMMMM it was so yummy. I had the Banana Cheese Cake and boy was it amazing.

Sunday we headed up to Anne and Dad's house for dinner then took Dad to the airport so he could head back down to Florida.

I truly enjoyed my Birthday Weekend! A BIG thanks to everyone who helped me celebrate this weekend, it made turning 29 a little easier.

Car Update #2

Finally I've gotten somewhere. I have learned the hard way (what other way is there to learn a lesson) that Safeco Insurance is as shady as they come. After speaking with my Collision Shop when the Adjuster finally came out to inspect the additional damanage (and me calling into the call center to politely chew out the rep on the phone with me). I've learned the following that will probably apply to all insurance companies in Georgia that aren't yours...

1) By Law: It's not required for the insurance company to give the estimate or approve Original Engineered Manufactured Parts (AKA OEM Parts) for the company your car was made by. I mean cause Heaven Forbid that my 2009 Altima that had barely over 10K miles on it would recieve that.

2) By Law: They don't have to claim liability either. Yes even with a copy of a Police report the Insurance Company of the driver at Fault can say "Screw You, it's still your fault" which really to me sounds like they are telling the Police that they are incompitent when writing a Police Report. Hmmm... I wonder if I could say that on my next speeding ticket.

So I've decided that seeing Safeco wants to do this kind of stuff, I hope they at least make good on the Diminished Value of My car seeing that they don't want to use Nissan Parts.

If all goes well, The technician working on my car said I should have it back by Wednesday at the latest. One thing I will say. The G6 has grown on me. Peppy little car, but it's not my Mamba!

One Night in Bankok...

Ok maybe not, I am being forced to talk about about my weekend seeing Kara had a wonderful time bonding with her Mother driving from Pittsburgh to Cumming. Ok not forced... more like "(Explative Deleted) you better talk about what happened up there or else you're back on punishment" So I shall... (Just playing Boo)

Friday - Friday had My old Pal Rolka and I going to the Hawks Game where they were playing the Knicks which with how well "My" Atlanta Hawks are doing (as they say in the commercials) should have been a cake walk. Nope... The Hawks lost the game. It wasn't a complete loss though, my roommate Leslie was running an event for Southern Poly the school she works for (Go Running Hornets!) and got us in along with passes for a free beer (nothing wrong with that).

The seats were good. We had an obnoxious Knicks fan in front of us who was probably the definition of a Douche Bag. Luckily we had drunken Hawks Fans behind us so we knew if nothing else we were going to have a good time. Unfortunately one of the Hawks Stars got ejected in the 2nd Quarter for some BS, I think there was mob ties into it if you asked a former shamed ref. Just sayin...

After the game, I took Rolka around some of the Local Places in SONO. I told him about the "Bum Bot" at this bar O'Terrills but unfortunately the owner wasn't there. I found a video just for you Rolk... Here you go

We also stopped in for some oke at Midtown Tavern. At this point I was in trouble for hanging out at "Kara's Bar" with "Kara's Friends" without... You Guessed it "Kara" Good times were had by all I must say.

Saturday - So after my liver allowed me to get up, I was on my way to meet Neil, his brother Dan, and their cousin Bobby to head to Athens for one last Hurrah because Neil has his son "P Diddy" (as I will call him) on the way. So Preggo (as Neil calls his wife... With her permission of course) allowed us all to go out and have a good time. Which really means you're only allowed 5 minutes of fun, but we knew we were going to get in trouble anyway so away we went to the following places...

Terrapin - To all my friends who went to UGA... Shame on you for not introducing me to this place sooner. Great Beer and lots of Tickets for said great beer makes Lin a Happy Camper. This also begun the night of Random Women attacking Neil. First off some Girl started yelling at Neil and Bobby after they weren't even talking to her, then came the Globe which we will get to in a moment.

Copper Creek - This is where we decided to grab dinner. I forgot how much I love college towns. Good Food, more good beer, and Very Cheap! So Cheap that Dan threw his beer on Bobby. Ok so that was an accident, but it was the moment that we decided that Dan would definately drive back.

The Globe - This is now the trifecta of places I've never been. Now for some reason I always wind up running into people I know in Athens, either from High School, or even better somebody I went to Auburn with. Bobby and I were talking at the bar and Dan was making fun of a Girl in a Tim Tebag jersey. I looked over and said "I know her..." Bobby didn't believe me till she came up and said "War Eagle" to me. Turns out it was this girl I knew Amber who I met through my Friend Jack. Small world huh? Dan and Neil and this point are all "WTF???" So after catching up and we joined her table with her friends where Neil decided to Bless her Jersey, although Florida got Stomped earlier that night. The highlight was when this guy walked in and Neil said "I'd rather wear that guy's sweater than a Tebow jersey" and...

By this point in the night... Prego was posting messages on Facebook along with her sister that we needed to come... We were grounded... etc.

Sure enough the night ended with us heading back to The Natic Residence early Sunday Morning. It was a great time and I know Neil had fun as well. The ladies might disagree with how much fun we had, but it could be worse... We could have spent the night down town.

My "short" trip to Pittsburgh and other happenings of this past weekend

A few months ago my mom decided she wanted to move to Georgia since Alisha was pregnant and to be closer to us. In less than a months time she had an offer on her house. (Who knew it would happen so fast, especially in this economy) 2 months later she was all packed up and ready for the move to Georgia.

I didn't want her driving 12 hours here all by herself so I offered to ride/drive with her. So I packed my bag and headed to the airport Friday night after work (thanks Dana for driving me there). I got to the airport pretty early and decided to grab a bite to eat at TGI Friday's. I hadn't been there in so long but I love there Sesame Jack Chicken Strips but to my surprise they were no longer on the menu. I don't know if the menu is different because they are located inside an airport but I was seriously disappointed.

Our flight got in early as we caught a tail wind and it only ended up taking us an hour to get there. Mom was waiting for me in baggage claim and once we got back into Greensburg we stoped to see Chrisy, Shawn and Paige's new house. It was so nice, so much charm and attention to detail. I had brought Christmas presents for Paige and we stayed around for her to open them. Since she was up past her bedtime she had what I would call the shortest temper tantrum know to man but that was still my cue to get going.

We spent the night at my grandparents house that night and visited with them and my aunt and uncle before we got going in the morning. We ended up leaving a little later than I expected but it was great to visit with everyone and I got a great care package from grandma full of cookies and Jioio's pizza.

I got a chance to stop at my FAVORITE gas station "SHEETZ" before we got on the road. This place is seriously the super bowl of gas stations. They have everything you could ever want. Made to order food, do it yourself milk shakes, 20+ fountain drinks, the old fashion Slurpee's and so so much else. Oh and they have gas too.

It took us a little longer than 11 hours to get to Alisha's house due to the 3 hour snow storm we had to drive 45 mph thru and the numerous pee stops I had to make. We stopped at Cracker Barrel for dinner and got a chance to stretch our legs while we shopped a little bit.

I actually drove the whole way and we ended up reaching Alisha and Neils house around 1030pm. Neil, Lin, Bobby and Dan went to Athens so we stayed up chatting till they made it home. (WAY later then they should have come home, 2am)

Sunday was a lazy day for me. Lin had to go to work at 2pm so he left around 1230 or 1 and mom and Alisha left not too long after that to go to Target and Publix. Neil and I stayed at the house watching Hoarders (love that show). Once the women got back we started to make Hard Tack Candy (a northern tradition). The first batch which we made Cherry flavored but it didn't turn out well and we had to throw it away. Alisha underestimated the amount of work it took to make the candy and it took us till 7pm to finish. Not only did it take forever but it created a HUGE mess.

After dinner mom, Alisha, Neil and Envy drove me back to the city. It was a good but long weekend! I can't wait till next weekend.

Car Update

So back on November 12th, Kara posted a short blog on the fact that I had been rear ended. The damage done wasn't too bad as you can see from this picture here, however the dealings with Safeco Insurance have been less than Pleasurable.

I have been calling them everyday since November 16th because I wanted to try to get my car fixed as soon as possible. This lasted for 2 weeks where I'm sure I became a fixture within their call center. During this process I found out that the girl who hit me didn't even tell her parents who pay her insurance. Safeco did! I can only imagine what would happen if it was me pulling that on my parents.

Finally last week on Wednesday I got to put my car into the shop. An additional 700 miles have been put on the car since the accident. Then came the fun part...

Enterprise Rent-a-car: Why do they insist on Trying to give people PT Cruisers? At least the Assistant Manager was there to see my look of "Really?" when the car was first offered. This was after waiting an hour to be picked up from the Body Shop. Also this is not the first time I haven't been happy with Enterprise over the rental process, however even though Safeco is jerking me around, I was given a Pontiac G6

I don't know if you can see this close enough, but the car was filthy. It's one thing that it was raining when I picked up the car but lets take a little closer look...

I actually paid to have the car washed myself. I vowed "I'm not Chamillionare, so no Riding Dirty for me!" (It's ok to Laugh... Kara did)

So now it's still the waiting game to see when the car comes back. On a side note, it's a shame that Pontiac isn't making the car anymore, it's a pretty nice ride. I told Kara that I can't say I would be upset if the car came back Totalled. Then I can get more car for the same price. I guess we will see. Wish us luck!

It's Time To Give Thanks

So it's been a little while since we've updated on our little corner of the world. I (Lin) apologize for making you wait. Kara and I have both been extremely busy in the past few weeks. I'll update you guys in a couple of posts starting with this one...

Thanksgiving With The Wormleys

A little back story. Before Halloween, Kara informed me that she never saw "It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" You can imagine my fear when when Thanksgiving came around. Luckily she did inform me that she enjoys watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. There is hope for that girl yet. The Cast of characters for this episode included my Roommates Brent & Leslie,

Mom & Dad Schnee, Heidi & her Fiancee Chris, Brent's Girlfriend Michelle, Cousins Mark & Ramona, and friends Marsha & Trinh.

So we have learned the value of communication from this Thanksgiving. It appears that somewhere along the line, having regular mashed potatoes is a staple in most homes, however mashed sweet potatoes don't count. Between everybody there, we had averaged 1 pie per person, No Mashed Potatoes, and enough alcohol flowing to say that the blending of families was a successful event.

The next day found us heading out in the morning to have Kara's Cat Scanned at Piedmont Hospital. Poor thing was suffering from Headaches for the past few weeks. (I'm the one for the past few months, huge difference between the two). Kara I think was worrying that it was going to take for ever, to our surprise we were in and out in 30 minutes. This was great cause it gave us time before the Auburn / Alabama Game. As you can see Kara and her love of football was ready for this one.

Unfortunately Auburn lost that game, but Kara got to experience it with the Clark family and Michael's new house. Kara and I have been talking about different places that we would like to get and Michael's house was definitely a model of something that we would like. I'm glad I finally got to see it.

A weekend of Friends and Family can not be completed without a stop in with the Natic's. Poor Kara was mad I think cause I vetoed getting a Christmas Tree up the Day after Thanksgiving as my Sister was not going to be around. Luckily Kara's Sister was nice enough to let Kara decorate the Tree, after ordering Neil and I to bring it down from the attic and be covered in insulation. Kara did a great job with the tree while sneaking in "Rubbing Da Belly". The night was also capped off with One of the biggest upsets in College football with UGA upsetting Tech.

Poor Kara has been a great sport with my Football "Addiction" this year. This weekend was definitely a testament to her. Lucky for her the Bears are probably going to miss the playoffs (doesn't mean I'm not going to sneak in time to watch games).

Even though we are a little late, we both hope that you and yours had a wonderful Thanksgiving and Kick off to this Holiday Season.

A little bit of Sappiness

Ok so Luckie sent me this a week or so ago and I never read it until today... Kinda sappy but I liked it

THE RED MARBLES

Years ago, I lived in Idaho for a short while. I was at the local corner grocery store buying some early potatoes. I noticed a small boy, delicate of bone and feature, ragged but clean, hungrily apprising a basket of freshly picked green peas.

I paid for my potatoes but was also drawn to the display of fresh green peas. I am a pushover for creamed peas and new potatoes. Pondering the peas, I couldn't help overhearing the conversation between Mr. Miller (the store owner) and the ragged boy next to me.

'Hello Barry, how are you today?'

'H'lo, Mr. Miller. Fine, thank ya. Jus' admirin' them peas. They sure look good.'

'They are good, Barry. How's your Ma?'

'Fine. Gittin' stronger alla' time.'

'Good. Anything I can help you with?'

'No, Sir. Jus' admirin' them peas.'

'Would you like to take some home?' asked Mr. Miller.

'No, Sir. Got nuthin' to pay for 'em with.'

'Well, what have you to trade me for some of those peas?'

'All I got's my prize marble here.'

'Is that right? Let me see it' said Miller.

'Here 'tis. She's a dandy.'

'I can see that. Hmmmmm, only thing is this one is blue and I sort of go for red. Do you have a red one like this at home?' the store owner asked.

'Not zackley but almost..'

'Tell you what. Take this sack of peas home with you and next trip this way l et me look at that red marble'. Mr. Miller told the boy.

'Sure will. Thanks Mr. Miller.'

Mrs. Miller, who had been standing nearby, came over to help me. With a smile she said, 'There are two other boys like him in our community, all three are in very poor circumstances. Jim just loves to bargain with them for peas, apples, tomatoes, or whatever. When they come back with their red marbles, and they always do, he decides he doesn't like red after all and he sends them home with a bag of produce for a green marble or an orange one, when they come on their next trip to the store.'

I left the store smiling to myself, impressed with this man. A short time later I moved toColorado , but I never forgot the story of this man, the boys, and their bartering for marbles.

Several years went by, each more rapid than the previous one. Just recently I had occasion to visit some old friends in that Idaho community and while I was there learned that Mr. Miller had died.

They were having his visitation that evening and knowing my friends wanted to go, I agreed to accompany them. Upon arrival at the mortuary we fell into line to meet the relatives of the deceased and to offer whatever words of comfort we could.

Ahead of us in line were three young men. One was in an army uniform and the other two wore nice haircuts, dark suits and white shirts...all very professional looking. They approached Mrs. Miller, standing composed and smiling by her husband's casket. Each of the young men hugged her, kissed her on the cheek, spoke briefly with her and moved on to the casket.

Her misty light blue eyes followed them as, one by one, each young man stopped briefly and placed his own warm hand over the cold pale hand in the casket. Each left the mortuary awkwardly, wiping his eyes.

Our turn came to meet Mrs. Miller. I told her who I was and reminded her of the story from those many years ago and what she had told me about her husband's bartering for marbles . With her eyes glistening, she took my hand and led me to the casket.

'Those three young men who just left were the boys I told you about. They just told me how they appreciated the things Jim 'traded' them. Now, at last, when Jim could not change his mind about color or size .. . . They came to pay their debt.'

'We've never had a great deal of the wealth of this world,' she confided, 'but right now, Jim would consider himself the richest man in Idaho '

With loving gentleness she lifted the lifeless fingers of her deceased husband. Resting underneath were three exquisitely shined red marbles.

The Moral : We will not be remembered by our words, but by our kind deeds. Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath..

Today I wish you a day of ordinary miracles: A fresh pot of coffee you didn't make yourself....An unexpected phone call from an old friend...Green stoplights on your way to work . . . The fastest line at the grocery store . . . A good sing-along song on the radio . . .. Your keys found right where you left them.

REMEMBER THAT IT'S NOT WHAT YOU GATHER, BUT WHAT YOU SCATTER THAT TELLS WHAT KIND OF LIFE YOU HAVE LIVED.

Maybe we need a doctor on call 24/7

I kinda left a few things off the blog from Lin's tooth pulling ordeal because I was unsure as to how he would react, but now that he is back to normal and we can all laugh about it, I feel it's ok to thrown him under the bus now (Love you honey)

So once we got home from Publix and my failed attempt at Rita's, Lin's mom and I began making myself and Lin something to eat. This lead to a conversation about Lin not eating all day, he just didn't have time he claimed :( . As his mom and I were lecturing him on how food was important and that we didn't need him passing out on us, his head began to nod and down he went. At first we thought he was just joking but we couldn't get him to respond. His mom began shaking him and screaming his name but nothing was working. Trying to get him to respond she grabbed his face and began squeezing and shaking it. "Noooooo" I yelled "He just had 3 teeth pulled Mom!" I splashed a bit of water on his face and he finally came to.

Just as we began explaining to him what had just happened he passed out again. This time his mom reached for the phone calling 911 while I tried to get him awake. His mom tried to explain to the dispatcher what was wrong but couldn't quite get the words to come out right. When the dispatcher asked Lin's age his mother responded "32" (lin is actually 30) Lin's head shot up and he gave his mother this nasty look as he mouthed 30. (of all things to pull him out of passing out). I got him some Orange Juice and he seemed to be fine after that. No EMS needed. (well maybe one should have came for his mother and I) LOL!

Thursday night did not go to well for me. I had been fighting a headache since Wednesday and was having trouble sleeping. Lin called me flounder because I just couldn't keep still that night. I kept thinking I was coming down with a cold so I began taking Thera-flu but nothing seemed to break my headache.

I gave up on sleeping and got up Friday morning to get ready to meet a co-worker at Atlantic Station to see "New Moon". I was so excited I made it back into town earlier than expected but luckily my co-worker did also. We headed to Target then over to Regal at Atlantic Station for the 11am showing of "New Moon".

It was so much better than I had expected and so much better than the first movie "Twilight". I wish I could have enjoyed it more, but my headache just wouldn't give up. (No worries I plan to go see it a few more times before it leaves theaters).

I then headed to work as this was my MOD weekend. Still no matter what I did I could not get my headache to go away. I ordered some food from JR Crickets (HORRIBLE) and decided to call it a night. I must have fallen asleep around 9pm, but it was another restless night.

By Saturday afternoon I had a temperature and decided to call my boss and tell him I needed to go home. I did just that and spent the evening curled up on the couch Rita's in hand (thanks babe, your the BEST). hahaha Alisha

Sunday we headed up to Lin's moms for the afternoon and for him to cook us a great dinner. Thanks Rachel Ray!

Monday morning I called my doctor and headed in for an appointment as I just couldn't get rid of the headache. Blood Pressure was really high and he gave me a blood pressure medication that also works on Migraines. The medication made me a little loopy at first but did nothing for the headache.

It's now Tuesday night, the headache is still here, but not nearly as bad as it was. I head in for a CT Scan Friday afternoon so they can check my Noggin and tell me my brain is missing lol! Wish me luck!

From uneventful to Teeth pulling

So this week has been pretty uneventful, which is so unlike us. It has been nice to have a chance to relax after work and not be running from one place to the next, even if it did only last for 2 or 3 days. :)

I decided to work this weekend so I could have the day after Thanksgiving off so that meant I had today (Thursday) off. Wednesday night I headed OTP so I didn't have to wake up early and drive in the morning. I spent the beginning of the day relaxing a bit .

Later that evening I met Lin and took him to the his Dentist in Buckhead. He had a late evening appointment and was scheduled to have 2 teeth pulled. I sat in the waiting room with a plethora of magazines in front of me for my reading pleasure. My butt started to hurt a bit after the first hour, but a half an hour later I began to wonder what was taking so long. Just then the dentist came out for a bathroom break and advised me that they had decided to pull 3 teeth and the last one didn't want to come out.

Apparently she had to call in reinforcement to help her with his temperamental tooth. another hour and a half later the second dentist was able to get his tooth to come free. I was starving at this point and of course Lin was feeling no pain as he was still heavily medicated with Novocaine so we headed to Publix to fill his prescription and for me to find something to eat.

Was anyone else aware that Amoxacillin is a free prescription at Publix or am I just behind the 8 ball?

I tried to get Rita's before heading home but supposedly they close at 8pm now. Not a happy camper!!!

I think I need to open a Rita's so I can have it anytime I want...... Anyone got a couple thousand I can borrow?

Damn Really??? (This Weekend as a whole)

So I (Lin) am posting this today just to let everybody know that I wasn't killed or that I didn't kill anybody. Despite the title this has been a pretty good weekend. I'll take you back to Kara's last post though and fill in some blanks.

How did I know that Kara and I would be together for awhile?? She fell in love with my Nissan Altima I bought a month after we started dating. (She fell in love with me eventually too... I think ;-) ) so she always referred to it as "My (Kara's) Car" even though I was making payments. (Fellas, isn't that funny how that works?).

So Thursday night after getting out of work, I was heading by my apartment for my daily stop by. Those of you who have been by the apartment since Brent and I have been living together coming North on 75 know how bad the Roswell Rd exit on 120 can be backed up. Traffic was stopped way back on the hill at the exit ramp. I slammed on my breaks cause the person in front of me did the same thing. Then I heard tires screeching and being rear ended 3 times in the past 7 years said out loud "Damn... Really?" and sure enough BAM!!! "Our" car was pushed forward. Luckily I did not hit the car in front of me like with my first Altima and Elian Gonzales.

Marietta PD showed up and also informed me that I don't have the proper registration sticker on my Car (Thanks Cobb County)

This weekend was spent mostly with Kara's Family in North GA. Yesterday had us going to watch Paul's Soccer Game in the morning after doing a few errands. The afternoon was full of Fun and Football for the guys while the girls did their Anti Football thing. Apparently Neil and I aren't allowed to hang out anymore according to Kara and Alisha.

Today we find ourselves getting ready to head back to the Metro Atlanta area to spend time with my Mom who just had a back procedure done. Turns out she's going to have to go back again in December. All is well with her right now which is a blessing, but I know she's loopy which is always interesting.

I hope you all have have a great weekend.

Car Troubles

Thursday night around 8pm I get a BBM from Lin telling me that "My car" had got rear ended.

Apparently he was getting off at the exit for his apartment and came to stop at the red light at the bottom of the hill. However the person behind him decided it would be more fun to try and push thru all the cars waiting at the light (she must have been in a real hurry)

Thank goodness Lin was ok! "My car" wasn't hurt too bad but apparently her car was pretty banged up. It's a shame Lin wasn't driving the Focus. hahaha

Not sure what the extent of the damage is since the adjuster hasn't been out yet. Should know by the beginning of next week! We will keep you updated.

Weegle Weegle War Damn Eagle Vol. 1 (AKA: The Massacre at Auburn)

Now that I (Lin) got thrown under the bus by Kara who got called out by Neil (What a great Brother inlaw) I guess it's time to update on the events of the past weekend. So on Saturday Eric and Maranda met up with us earlier in the morning (much earlier than Kara would have preferred to get up) so we could take a trip down to the Lovliest Village on the Plains... You know it as Auburn University.

Now a few things to know before going any further...

1) Lin and Eric are Proud Alumni and Fraternity Brothers
2) Lin and Eric are also Alumni of the Auburn University Marching Band
3) Eric's wife Maranda is a Georgia Tech fan
and...

4) Kara hates football... Keep that in your back pocket (Even though she spent time at Penn State... Do you see why this breaks my heart???)

The drive down was uneventful which is always good cause the wanna be big city cops always have a problem with my lead foot and I. I already decided that if I was pulled over I would say..

"Sorry Officer I was just bringing these kind folks back to Alabama" which quickly turned into a fun game of "Things that Lin can say that the other white folks couldn't get away with"

The trip had us visiting a friend of Lin and Eric's who recently injured himself trying to catch a bus. Keith is great spirits considering the lack of phone calls from his doctor.

From here we went to Campus to Jordan-Hare. I told Kara when we got the tickets that when we went over, she was to wear comfortable shoes that she could walk in. She quickly learned why as we walked a little over a mile to the stadium. We walked through campus and pointed out places where some of Eric and Lin's Shenanigans took place. Unfortunately we missed the Eagle flying, however we had great seats.

Well... Let me say this. Our seats were 2nd row on the 40 yard line on the visitors side. It was Auburn vs. Furman. Had it been Auburn vs. LSU/UGA/Alabama/Anybody SEC... We would have been standing and the game would have been awesome. However those crazy fighting Paladins of Furman who broght a grand total of 133 people (53 of them were the football team) we were sitting down, which means we were staring right at the backs of the Furman players. So to see we had to watch the game on the jumbotron. I would have had great pictures, but the batteries died on my camera that I was allowed to bring in. (I've been playing with my Dad's Nikon D50 lately and forgot all about my Cannon one. SLR cameras aren't allowed in the stadium as the University doesn't want people to have better pictures than them.)

How exciting was the game? By halftime Auburn was up 42-3 and Kara was asleep on my shoulder. Before anybody gives her grief, let me repeat... AUBURN WAS UP 42-3 AT HALFTIME. By 45 seconds into the 2nd half Auburn's JV squad was on the field and we decided to beat traffic and head out. This means another mile walk back to the car.

Other than a traffic jam outside of LaGrange we had smooth sailing back to Atlanta while listening to the Ga Tech Game. Of course after an exciting regulation, the game went into overtime.

By this point we were at home and watching the game on TV. Kara was such a trooper to endure a game of football, Football on the radio and more on TV when we got home, I decided to take my baby to Marietta Fish Market for dinner.

Something else I've learned... When trying something new, we now do it at home first. Poor Kara decided to get the Lobster Boil which included a whole Lobster... Shell and all. Seeing she talks about being from Florida I never thought of this as a big deal till I saw the look of panic when it was placed down in front of her. She is a trooper and finished it, but if you ever want a good laugh, have somebody try to eat a whole lobster for the first time. This gave us more laughs than the movie Next Day Air (I fell asleep during that, and I think Kara is mad that its about 100 some odd minutes she's not getting back in her life)

Sunday really was a lazy day as it started with a "suggestion" that I make breakfast while she burns us a few CDs, me getting us some Ritas (Kara's newest addiction), and us bringing down Kara's new TV stand from Lin's apartment (Thanks Brent!)

So that was our wonderful weekend... I know you are jealous. This week is looking to be pretty tame, but come the weekend, who knows.

And Away We Go

So yes we decided to JUMP on the band wagon of blogging couples. I know, I know seems sappy doesn't it but hey why not?

While I (Kara) was at work today I got this MAJOR craving for some Cuban food. But finding good Cuban food is definitely a task here in the Metro Atlanta Area, so I decided to do a google search for Cuban Restaurants in the Marietta area. The first one to come up was a place called the Cuban Diner.

Pictures looked good on the web site and they had my favorite dish "Lechon Asado", so I IMed Lin to see if he wanted to check it out for dinner. Lin did what every good man does and simply said "Yes Dear". Luckily he knew right where it was at as he lives only a few blocks from it.

It was definitely your hole in the wall Cuban place. I think I got so excited as we pulled in the parking lot that I almost jumped out the car before it stopped.

After we ordered a Tamale for our appetizer I began drinking my water, something didn't seem right with my water.

"Baby, my water is chunky."

Lin looked at me as if he was thinking did she REALLY just say what I think she said? Then he asked if it could possibly be the ice in my drink. Nope definitely not ice. Not sure exactly what it was as I couldn't see anything in it, but it just wasn't right.

So when the waters bad you might as well go with the alcohol! Sangria it was! GREAT IDEA LIN! (She gets one a day from me... That's all folks...)

The food was so-so but the sangria was good!

If you need your Cuban fix I would suggest this place, just don't go there with over the top expectations. So that was a glimpse of our Friday night. As I (Lin here now) say goodnight cause we're actually are going to Auburn in the Morning for the Furman vs. Auburn game.

Good Night Folks!
